This cardigan is worked from the bottom up and features an easy cable pattern on a garter stitch background. Sleeves are worked in the round first, and body is worked flat. Sleeves are then joined to the body to work the yoke in one piece. The neckline is finished with an I-cord bind-off. Both charts and written instructions are provided to accommodate personal preference.
Skills required: cast on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, following a simple cable pattern (charts and written instructions provided), working an I-cord edging (explanations provided), yarn over, I-cord bind off (explanations provided), a small amount of grafting (link to online kitchener stitch tutorial provided).
To fit chest: 17, 18, 19, 20 // 22, 23, 24, 25 inches or 43, 46, 48, 51 // 56, 58, 61, 63.5 cm.
Finished garment chest: 19.25, 20.25, 21.25, 22 // 24, 25, 26.25, 27.5 inches or 49, 51.5, 54, 56 // 61, 64, 66.5, 69.5 cm
Yarn requirements: approximately 350, 400, 450, 500 // 600, 625, 675, 700 yds or 320, 365, 411, 457 // 549, 571, 617, 640 meters of dk weight yarn.
Needles:
US 6 or 4mm circular needle or size needed to match stockinette stitch gauge.
1 set of matching dpns for sleeves
US 4 or 3.5mm dpns (i.e. 2 sizes smaller) for I-cord bind off
Cable needle or dpn
