This sweet baby cardigan is a great project for knitters of all skill levels and perfect for any new baby!
Worked in one piece from the back hem upwards, the pattern instructions give both the number of rows to be worked and the corresponding lengths, so there is little room for error and your finished project should be perfectly proportioned.
With oversized sleeves which can be rolled down as the baby grows, the integral design means that there’s no neck or sleeve shaping to worry about - a few stitches cast on at the neck form pretty lapels, which can be worn cosily up to the neck if preferred.
With just the side and underarm seams to join, this is a fuss-free pattern which is very versatile indeed! The pattern instructions are written for both boys and girls, but if you want to get making before the baby arrives then just take your pick and sew it up inside out if you find you guessed the wrong gender.
For a different look, try using DK weight yarn on 3.75mm (US 5) needles; it will work out slightly larger, but there’s only one direction that babies grow!!!
