The Knitted Fabric by Dee Harwicke
The Knitted Fabric by Dee Harwicke
Brimming with artistic inspiration and filled with 20 nature-inspired patterns for gorgeous knitwear and joyful pieces for the home, this book from artist, designer and knitter Dee Hardwicke takes a completely fresh and unique approach to traditional knitting books. Opening up The Knitted Fabric: Colourwork Projects For You And Your Home is like being invited to Dee’s studio to look through her sketchbooks. This superbly designed book is a unique celebration of the way that knitting can bring us together by using art and decoration to tell our stories.
The book includes 20 nature-inspired patterns and range from stylish sweaters, hats and scarves with botanical motifs, to beautiful and incredibly versatile projects for the home such as geometric cushion covers and heirloom quilts.
Dee Hardwicke is an artist, designer and knitter whose work is inspired by her passion for colour and by her love of the British landscape. Dee's designs have been used in exclusive collaborations with partners including the National Trust and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Her previous knitting books include A Story in Yarn: How to Design and Knit an Intarsia Heirloom Quilt (Quail Publishing, 2016) and several titles with leading British yarn producers and designers Rowan. Each design begins life in her sketchbooks.
"These are projects to really slow down with and to have on-the-go. They are projects to absorb yourself in, enjoying the process as stitches and colours grow into beautiful knitted fabrics to wear or to celebrate the joy of home."
